August Monthly Stableford
Congratulations to Oliver Cook on producing a fantastic round of golf last Sunday. Proving a heavy Saturday night and a hangover is no excuse, Olly returned an exceptional gross score of 68 (nett 63) to win the competition. Gary Pillings, armed with his new golf swing after a series of lessons this summer, returned a great round of gross 74 (nett 66). Hassocks Golf Club legend Brian Austin completed the top three with a very good nett 67. Well played to you all. The 2s pot was spilt three ways between Rob Temple-Smithson, Danny Burchell and Alex Mulliins, with each player winning £13.33 for their efforts. Following their competition performances, Olly (4) and Brian (15) both had their handicap reduced by one shot. The competition standard scratch remained unchanged on the day at 69.
Captain's Day - There is still room for a team in the texas scramble on 27th August; it's £10 each with prizes for the 1st three teams and at least 10 individual prizes. Everyone is welcome and after the game the 1st drink is on me.
Play 'n' Putt - On Sunday, 28 August we have the annual Keith King (much loved ex-captain) Play 'n' Putt. This is a fun event aimed at getting the family of our golfers and Keith's family involved. The rules are the golfer plays to the green then the spouse or child putts out. It's 9 holes and a lot of fun please sign-up ASAP.
Night Golf - We are looking to arrange a Night Golf evening on Friday, 30 September before winter sets in. As yet no one has put their names down for this and if we get no interest we will not run this which is a shame. We will need to purchase the equipment so I am looking for possible numbers. Please show your interest ASAP on the sheet on the main board. The plan for the evening will be meet at 8 in the club for a beer and food (possibly a chilli) then play night golf and back to the bar. Depending on numbers the cost will be approximately £20 per head. Please show your interest soon so we can order the glow sticks in time.
