Take the opportunity to update your wardrobe with the latest fabrics to keep you cool, comfortable and stylish whilst the warm weather continues. Wear the same Galvin Green clothing that the European Ryder Cup team will be wearing in America to hopefully bring the Cup back home again.
Junior Club Championship
During the school summer holiday, the Junior Club Championship was held at Hassocks. A huge thank you to Laurie Cassar for all his efforts, as always, for organising the day for the juniors. In glorious weather, a strong field dressed in their team shirts played some very good golf. The winner of the 2016 Junior Club Championship was Lucas Durrant, defending his title from last year (first photo below). The winner of the Handicap event was Jamie Wheeler (second photo below) with Robert White in second.
September Stableford
Fresh off his success of winning Captain's Day the weekend before last, Phil Burt (pictured here after his earlier triumph) continued his fantastic form this year to win the September Stableford last weekend. Phil returned to the clubhouse with a brilliant score of 42 points. Despite this excellent performance, his victory required countback from former HGC captain Nick Griffin. However, his exceptional back nine of 25 points was too much for Nick to overhaul. Keeping it in the Burt family, Howard son of Phil finished with 41 points to claim third place. Continuing their good day, Phil and Nick also shared the 2s pot! The competition standard scratch score reflected the good scoring on the day by reducing one shot to 68. To highlight this, the top 18 players in the competition all scored 36 points or better, well played to you all. Phil's recently fitted new TaylorMade M2 driver and 3-wood are clearly working well!
