Titleist 917 metals
At the start of this week I had the privilege to hit the brand new Titleist 917 drivers and fairways before their global launch on the 21st October. It's always very exciting to test out new product as to experience what the manufacturers have designed for us all to play with. This excitement is heightened from manufacturers like Titleist who only release new product every two years.
I'm pleased to report that Titleist hasn't disappointed with their new technology. The drivers and fairways give off a lovely sound at impact and you can feel the ball reacting with the face. The thing that made the largest impact with me was how straight the driver went, even with swings that felt they should have gone offline. For anyone looking to add more consistency and straighter dispersion off the tee (that should be all of you!) I would highly recommend this driver.

Titleist are now taking appointments for their National Fitting Centres across the UK. The first available appointments for 917 metals will be from Monday, 26 September. Please see the charges for a custom fit session at Titleist:
1 Hour Session - one category fitting (e.g. driver fitting) - price £40
2 Hour Session - two category fittings (e.g. driver and iron fitting) - price £70
3 Hour Session - full line fittings (all five available categories) - price £100

Hopefully you will all be aware after last week's newsletter and the special mail sent out at the start of this week that we are holding a Callaway Demo Day. This is will take place on Wednesday, 5 October between 11:00am and 3:00pm at Pyecombe Golf Club. However, the event is open to everyone: members of Pyecombe, members of Hassocks and anyone else. I have chosen the timing of this event deliberately to coincide to the launch of many new products from Callaway: their Fusion driver and fairways, Steelhead XR irons and hybrid, and the Big Bertha irons and hybrids. Be amongst the first to try the new range from Callaway Golf.
Captain's Chat - AGM & Autumn Cup
Well it doesn't seem possible that a year has gone by but here I am writing my last post as captain. I hope you've all managed a lot more golf than I have in the last year. I have now had the operation to repair my shoulder and the surgeon has said it could be a year before I'm back playing.
I would like to thank all those who have supported me and hope to see you at AGM in the clubhouse this Friday - 7:30pm for an 8:00pm start. Please come along Saturday morning to see me putt out and new captain Mark Page drive in at 8:00am.
I hope you are all signed up for the last major of the year - the Autumn Cup - and straight after it will be the prizegiving for all comps from the Club Champs until now so if you have won something come and collect it. All are welcome for all of the above and it would be great to see as many as possible!
