Hassocks Golf Club Re-Development
Notification from Denys Cole (owner of Hassocks Golf Club Limited).
Having undertaken to keep you updated with the progress of our planning application, I take this opportunity of informing you that yesterday the Mid-Sussex District Council Planning Committee resolved to approve our application for outline planning for the remodelling of the golf course from 18 holes to 9 holes, the construction of a new clubhouse and greenkeepers' building, the construction of a full length all-weather driving range and the construction of up to 130 residential units.
This does not mean that we have been granted planning consent and there are still a number of hurdles to overcome, including concluding a legal agreement with the District Council and, proceeding to the detailed design stage in order to apply for an implementable planning consent.
These steps will take time to achieve and I do not envisage that any works could be carried out on the site until October 2017 at the very earliest. This means that the existing clubhouse will remain in use and the course will remain as 18 holes until at least 30th September 2017 and, quite possibly, until 31st March 2018.
The position will become much clearer during the next few months and, as soon as we have an accurate idea of how long we shall be able to remain as an 18 hole course, I will provide you with a further update.
Your patience and continuing support are very much appreciated.
November Medal
Last Sunday the November Medal was held at the Golf Club. In difficult conditions Kevin 'M2' Chester continued his excellent recent form and produced the round of the day. Kevin returned a fantastic nett 66 to claim victory by a comfortable margin. Second place was a far tighter affair with Howard Burt taking second place on countback from Martin Copperwheat, with both players finishing with a nett 72. Howard returned a better nett back nine 31 v 36.
The competition standard scratch reflected the difficult playing conditions experienced by the players and increased to 72 with handicap reductions only applying to field.
As a result for his superb score Kevin had his handicap reduced by 2 shots from 21 to 19 (18.5), well played Kevin.
No 2's were recorded on the day, therefore a roll-over will take place during the next competition.
Motocaddy and Lithium Batteries
Last week I informed you all about the new offer from Motocaddy - that you are now able to buy a frame only trolley from Motocaddy (£249). Previously you have only been able to buy Frame, Battery and Re-Charger as a complete package.
I said many people are in the situation were they have upgraded their battery to a lithium over the last few years but now have an old dated trolley. This resolves a problem for many but I've had numerous people who are still using lead acid batteries why they should make the switch to lithium.
Here are six simple reasons why it's time to go lithium:
- Lithium Batteries last up to 5 times longer
- Super Lightweight
- More Compact
- Lower Cost per Round
- Quicker Charging
- 5 Year Warranty
