Callaway Demo Day
I'm pleased to announce our first Demo Day of the year will take place on Wednesday 15th February from 1pm to 6pm. The event will be held in the swing studio at the golf club. The fitting sessions will be by prior arrangement only, so please click here to book to avoid disappoint. Spaces have already started to fill.
Why bother being custom fitted? Because it is a game changer!
Last night I customed fitted Alan Davey for a new Callaway Epic Sub Zero Driver. Alan's own driver is a Callaway Fusion and he was producing good distance and consistent accuracy, so why change? 16 yards longer and a more consistent shot shape is the answer.
See Alan's figures by clicking here - with the Fusion he averaged 234 yards, with the standard Epic head he averaged 244 yards but with the Callaway Epic Sub Zero he average 250 yards. This was achieved by optimising the launch conditions, lowering both launch and spin, plus the Jailbreak technology in the face of the driver producing greater ball speeds - the Fusion averaged 133 mph (ball speed) Vs 137 mph with the Epic.

In exciting news from the world of golf, the greatest player to ever play the game (in my opinion) announced a new club deal. Tiger Woods has played with Nike Golf equipment for almost 20 years and has now decided to put a full bag of TaylorMade clubs into play for the 2017 season.

Why Re-Grip?
Grips are made of materials that age and wear as a function of time. Ozone, heat, dirt, and oils from your hands all age your grips and cause the natural degradation of the grip. The traction that a fresh grip provides lets you hold the club lightly without the subconscious fear of losing the club during your swing. This relaxed state promotes proper swing mechanics and wrist action. While a worn grip causes you to grasp the club tighter, causing arm and wrist tension that inhibits proper swing mechanics.
How Often to Re-Grip?
As a rule of thumb, you should re-grip once every year. Regardless of whether you play golf every day or only twice a year, ozone, heat, dirt, and oils are constantly at work breaking down the materials that make up your grips. Granted, frequent play and personal preference may dictate re-gripping sooner, but normally there's enough degradation of the material after a year to warrant fresh grips.
Keep in mind that grips lose a significant amount of their original feel long before they become hard and glazed over. Because it happens slowly over time, most golfers fail to notice it. That's important to remember because just a tiny, imperceptible slip at contact will be magnified to many yards by the time the ball reaches its target. Many people find that getting in the routine of re-gripping every spring as the golf season "officially" begins is the easiest way to remember.
This week we have re-gripped Pat Plumstead's clubs (pictured) and it has transformed them
Next time you play golf take a closer look at your grips, do they need an overhaul for the new golfing season approaching?

January Monthly Medal
Last Saturday the January Monthly Medal took place at the golf club, in very testing conditions! The cold weather and frost made play very tricky with some very firm and bouncy conditions being reported back. Dealing the best with the conditions was Stuart Allbury, who returned with a very creditable nett 71. The winning margin was one shot over Robert Chamberlain, with Charlie Mayhew claiming 3rd place on countback, achieving a better back nine than Ian Martin and Rob Temple-Smithson.
For the second weekend competition running no 2's were recorded, this means a double roll-over pot for the next weekend competition. Currently the pot stands at £64, worth concentrating that little bit more in the next comp!
