The life of a pair of golf shoes
Whilst selling a pair of shoes to a member this week he commented how tatty his old shoes looked, the following day he sent me an email explaining the reasons why! It makes interesting reading...
'I play an average of 10 rounds per month. That is 120 rounds a year at an average of 4 Miles per round (looking for lost balls etc). That is 480 miles a year of which at least 80 Miles are in the rain or wet ground conditions. It is only 456 Miles from Hassocks to Glasgow! My shoes are now 2 years old, so they have travelled 960 Miles (160 Miles in the wet). Is it any wonder that my shoes are tatty now? The day after each round my feet ache for the first hour after getting up and if I play several days on the trot then my feet ache even more'.
How far have your golf shoes travelled? How do your feet feel immediately after playing and the following day? Is it time to treat your feet to a new pair of shoes? Would you go for a 4 mile walk in the country in a pair of worn out shoes? No…. then why do you do it when you play golf!
We currently have over 150 pairs of shoes in stock, in all colours, sizes and styles. Come and try a few pairs on and answer your feet's prayers.

Our Exclusive Team continued their fine form under the Captaincy of Steve Wyatt.
The team recorded a 4-1 victory over a strong Sweetwoods team in the third round of the competition with none of the five pairs tasting defeat on the day. Hassocks record 3 wins and 2 halves to win the match. They have been drawn away to West Chiltington in the Quarter-Finals on Saturday 26th July.
Well played and good luck in the next round.
The winning team: Back Row from Left to Right: Bob Shrieves-Yeates, Mark Simmons, Rikki Hawkins and Tim Cattaneo. Front Row from Left to Right: Chris Ahier, Steve Wyatt (Team Captain) and Ben Johnson. Missing from the photo: Gareth Agar.
Unfortunately our Optimus Team were not as successful as the Exclusive team. The scratch team were handed a very difficult draw for the second round in a row, playing away to Seaford Blatchington. The challenge of a very difficult opponent and a demanding golf course moved too much for our team, eventually losing 9.5-2.5. Individual congratulations to Danny Burchell who recorded victory in the morning foursomes with partner Tom Aye-Moung and again in the afternoon singles. The additional half point was won by Tim Osman and Lucas Durrant. Congratulations to Lucas who played in his first scratch match at only 14 years of age.
Congratulations to Roger Brindley who won the Seniors May Medal last Tuesday. He recorded victory with a fantastic nett 65. Dick Crutcher finished second with a nett 66, beating Alan James on count back. Roger had his handicap reduced by two shots to 20.
