The Real Product Test - Continued
I'm continuing to share with you real equipment testing by real golfers - no longer trust what golf companies are telling you. Find out the truth here!
Last week I gave you a driver test - this week graphite shafted irons:
Golfer: Ian Smith
Handicap: 20
Member at: Hassocks
Member for:15 years
Playing for: 15 years
Own irons: TaylorMade Burner OS
All clubs in the test were 7 irons in graphite regular flex
Iron One: PING G Series
It feels lighter than my own club, it feels good - a consistent feel too and I like the fact the number is on the face and the sole
Iron Two: Callaway Steelhead XR
It feels a little heavier due to the balance of the weight - the weight is more in the head. It feels softer off the club face but you can feel the ball spring off the face and I like the chrome finish - I like the overall look to the club.
Iron Three: TaylorMade M2
It feels heavier in the head again, I like the chrome finish to the head and it has a a combination of a springy yet solid feel.
Iron Four: Titleist 716 AP1
It feels the lightest - even lighter than mine. It doesn't feel like I can control the club as much because of the weight. It looks very similar to the other clubs in the test, not much difference between them all. I don't feel as comfortable with this one.
The Results:
Best Looking: Callaway XR Steelhead - face looks slightly bigger than the rest
Best Feeling: - Callaway XR Steelhead - softness of the strike
Most likely to buy: Callaway XR Steelhead
Longest Single Drive: Callaway XR Steelhead - 155 yards
Longest Average: Callaway XR Steelhead - 136 yards
Straightest: TaylorMade M2
A standout favourite for Ian!
