Off The Shelf Vs Custom Fit
I have spoken many times within my newsletter about the importance of being custom fitted for clubs and the huge benefits this has given, and can give, many of you. With gains of over 30 yards achieved this year in distance and huge improvements in dispersion (how straight you hit it!).
So, hopefully, you now know why you should be custom fitted, but what actually differs when being fitted compared to an 'off the shelf set'?
Please see below everything we can alter in a set of irons to customise them to you, your game and your swing.
- Loft - to make sure you are achieving optimised launch angle with each club
- Lie (the angle between shaft and club head) - to make sure the leading edge/bottom of the club come square through the ground
- Length - customised to your height, wrist to floor measurement and your swing type
- Grip Size- customised to your hand size and finger length
- Grip Material - Multi Compound, corded or rubber to match your preference
- Shaft Material and Flex - to match your swing to maximise performance
- Manufacturer's Model - Callaway, TaylorMade, PING or Titleist
What are the chances every one of the above factors will be standard (as off the shelf clubs are) for you? And, even if one or two are, how would you know if you haven't been custom fitted?

Open Day
On Sunday 12th March, we held our first Open Day here at Hassocks Golf Club, giving FREE golf to all that attended. With over 90 people in attendance we were amazed with the response we had. The day started with a complementary Coffee with Bacon rolls, a Raffle with prizes, and then off to the links for 18 holes of golf. We were very pleased to see that the weather was on our side and people managed to enjoy their golf and the fun competitions that had been put on.
After the golf was over it was off to the club house for some hearty food and complementary drinks while we waited for the draw of the raffle and for the other competitors to come in. There was also the opportunity to win a pair of adidas Boost golf shoes with our nearest the pin challenge on our simulator. Mark Streeter was the worthy winner on the day, hitting his shot 2 ft. 2" from the pin.
Congratulations to Ralf Kuhr, our new member, for winning our Membership give away, we hope to see you at the club a lot over the coming year. Well done to Joe Adams for winning the TaylorMade Tour Bag and congratulations to all our winners who doubled their money on the 10th tee challenge. We hope you all enjoyed the day and make sure you keep your eyes out for more to come from Hassocks this coming year.
