Lessons make you better!
I start this week’s newsletter with my favourite section, lesson success. Both Julian Deans and Will Beaver have both been for a lesson in the last week. This is not unusual as both players are committed to improving their golf. Julian has signed up to my ‘Monthly Coaching Program’ and Will has a lesson every 4 to 6 weeks.
I have chosen to highlight Julian’s and Will’s progression as they are very different golfers but both are improving. Julian has been playing golf for many years and is a category one golfer but Will is very new to the game and only received his first handicap of 26 within the last month.
As a result of Julian’s monthly lesson, hard work and practice he has reduced his handicap from 4.5 in July to 2.6 – a very impressive handicap reduction of over 40%!
Will, following his lesson on Friday night, played in his first competition on Sunday. I’m delighted to say Will returned an impressive 40 points to receive his first handicap reduction, I’m sure of many.
So… to the point, no matter how long you have played this great game or whatever your current ability we can definitely help you.
Start your journey to a better game.

Time for a new one?
As I have highlighted in my 2 previous newsletters, we have received our full custom fit offering for 2019 from TaylorMade (M5 & M6) and Callaway (Epic Flash & Apex). We have had a huge uptake on our offer to try the clubs on the course, with some very impressive feedback being received.
However, this week our first custom fit sessions took place in the swing studio. To keep things even and fair I’m pleased to say the results ended in one Callaway order being placed and one Taylormade order being placed.
Ed Emmerson came for a 3 wood and hybrid fitting having been fitted during 2017 for an Epic Driver. His current 3 wood wasn’t the correct flex for him and he had to modify his swing to try and get it to perform.
Having tested product from PING, TaylorMade, Titleist and Callaway the stand out performer was M6. The new 3 model went 25 yards past his own club and created space in the bag for a 3 hybrid to make sure the top of his bag is correctly gapped for yardages.
|
Dan Mason also came for a 3 wood fitting having been fitted for a PING G400 Driver last year. He was unhappy with his current Titleist 915 F3 wood as he couldn’t achieve enough consistency to trust using it on the course.
Again, having tested all products available the clear winner was Callaway’s Epic Flash 3 wood. The combination of a small distance gain and huge dispersion improvement made the decision very easy. How does your 3 wood perform?

Calling all PING fans!
Having patiently waited through all the noise from Callaway and TaylorMade I’m pleased to announce the newest offering from PING – the G410 iron. Despite being smaller than the outgoing G400, it manages to be more forgiving. Visually, the G410 iron has 10 per cent less offset and a shorter blade length than G400.
The increase in forgiveness is thanks to a drastic reallocation of weight, including the removal of the Custom Tuning Port in the cavity and tungsten weights being added in the hosel and toe, plus a more flexible, free-moving face for increased deflection and ball speed has also been added.
|
The irons are available in standard lofts and Power Spec, the latter being approx. 1.5° stronger lofted for golfers that want even more distance.
As with all equipment stocked from Callaway, Titleist, TaylorMade and PING we have a full custom fit offering for the new product.
Coming soon we will have PING's new Driver, Fairway, Hybrid and Crossover G410

The last thing anyone wants is to purchase a new set of irons, only to struggle massively when they take to the course with their friends a few days later. Sound familiar? Well, with lots of new products about to land in-store for 2019, here are a few iron models that we recommend having a custom fitting for... |
The M5 and M6 irons from TaylorMade are designed for explosive distance, thanks mainly to the innovative Speed Bridge structure that helps stiffen the clubhead to generate higher ball speeds - visible technology that you can see in the images above. The M6 is designed for maximum forgiveness - something that we can all benefit from - whereas the M5 is suited to the better player who is looking for more distance without sacrificing control.
Hopefully, you have an idea of which iron you'd like to put in your bag, but it's not until you come and visit us for an enjoyable custom fitting that you'll know which iron and shaft combination performs best for you. We're here to help you play better golf. |
