Winter Rules - Winter rules will continue until further notice.
Congratulations to Denis Nixon who won the March Medal with a fantastic score of nett 64. Denis (pictured here) claimed victory by one shot from Howard Burt. Arthur Mayhew finished third, losing out on countback to Howard. Well played to you all. The competition standard scratch score increased by one shot to 69, this reflected the difficult playing conditions despite the fantastic winning scores.
Following his competitions performance Denis had his handicap reduced by 2 shots to 18 (18.0) Two 2s were achieved during the competition by Greg Kemsley (6th Hole) and Andy Taylor (10th Hole). Each player received £39 from the 2's pot.
Denis was custom fitted for a set of PING Karsten irons in January. I'm delighted the benefits of new technology and custom fitting have had a positive effect on his scores and his handicap. Could your game be helped? Click here to book a custom fit session to find out.

Madi's Mug
This was the first trophy competition of the year. Madi Habens, a previous Lady Captain, kindly donates three mugs, two for weekday and one for weekend and we play a 9 hole Stableford competition. The winners this year were Div. 1 Janet Ridden, Div. 2 Marian Smith and the weekend winner was Ann Austin.
Club Matches
On a freezing cold day in February, five ladies played at home v Cuckfield in the Mail on Sunday competition. Unfortunately, Hassocks ladies lost 2.5-1.5. Having won the qualifying round, Marian Smith and Maureen Roberts represented Hassocks in the Daily Foursomes at Hove. They put in a brilliant performance but unfortunately lost on the 17th hole.
There have been three other matches too: Rustington (away) - match halved; Lewes (away) - lost 3-2; Hollingbury (away) - lost 3-2.
As those of you who follow me on Twitter (@MikeOvett) will already know, I went to Callaway Golf's Headquarters last Thursday to be custom fitted for new clubs. This is the first time in five years I will not be using TaylorMade golf clubs. I cancelled my playing contract with TaylorMade for 2015 and I'm delighted to announce I have signed a new contract with Callaway Golf.
I spent over two and a half hours in the Performance Centre at Callaway testing their latest equipment. I was very excited to see the performance benefits the latest technology and custom fitted clubs were able to offer me. I have now placed my order and I'm waiting for my new clubs to arrive.
I was fitted for the following clubs:
Driver - Callaway XR Pro
3-wood - Callaway XR
5-wood - Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 815
Irons - Callaway Apex 4-PW with KBS Tour Shafts
Wedges - Mack Daddy 2 Tour Grind 51, 55 & 59 degrees
More information on all of these clubs, plus Callaway's entire 2015 range, can be found on my website here. If you would like to book an appointment at Callaway Golf for a FREE no obligation custom fit, like me, please click here.

A new duck house has been installed into the lake on the 9th hole - pictured above. This was one of Paul Mayes' (Club Captain) projects for the year. A huge thank you to Chris Coles (construction) and Wade Ayling (Materials) for their contribution to providing a safe haven from all the golfers for the ducks!
