Hello golfers,
What a week this has been. Sorry that I haven't been around much, as you know I started my role at Pyecombe GC this week so I have been working on getting the shop up and running amongst all of my coaching at Hassocks. Don't worry, I will be around more next week and the newsletter will be back to all things Hassocks!
Find the fairway every time
Now doesn't that sound nice! Prior to the Irish Open one commentator remarked: "Anyone who's not driving the ball well this week can forget about winning." How true. On some courses you may be able to get away with it but not at Royal County Down, especially when it's wet and windy.
Yes, holing putts is important and being able to drive the ball a mile will help, but isn't the game a lot easier when you're playing the game from the fairways?
Our advice is to try and not to let a narrow fairway faze you. So you commit fully to the shot, pick a spot in front of your ball that sits directly on your line. You should aim to force the head of your club over this spot after impact to ensure that you release it powerfully towards the target.
