It is an exciting time at the golf club. It seems spring has arrived and we can all forget last winter. The golf course is already looking good again and we can look forward to the new golfing season. The new season brings the excitement of The Masters; can Adam Scott defend his title he won last year? Followed closely by the Bank Holiday Easter Weekend, have you signed up for the Easter Meeting?

Due to the extreme weather we experienced through the winter we were unable to carry out the planned maintenance work at the start of the month. This work will now be carried the week commencing Monday 6th May. The greens will be sand injection graden, we use this system rather than hollow-tinning as the recovery rate for the greens is quicker and it is less disruptive.

The Quiz Night at the golf club was a huge success with over 40 people turning out last Friday. Many thanks to Richard Copeland for putting so much hard work into organising the event. I know it was enjoyed by all that attended. The eventual winners were our vice captain Paul Mayes' team consisting of Paul & Janet Mayes, their friends Robert & Suzanne + daughters and Steve & Alex Baugh. Not only did they win the Tesco Finest prize selection they are also the new holders of the Hassocks Golf Club Quiz Champions Shield taking over from Lord & Lady Mullins. The wooden spoon was won by Danny Burchell, Gareth Donnelly, Ben Johnson and Chris Ahier, well done boys! Please keep watching out for the next social event.

Congratulations to Duncan Brant who won the March Medal and Lombard Trophy Qualifier (Nett 64). Duncan and I now go forward and represent the club at the regional finals. I will give you a full report of our performance after the competition. Duncan's handicap was reduced by 2 shots following his fantastic performance.

Congratulations to Paul Gumbrell who won the March Mid Week Stableford with a fantastic 41 points, and to Nikki Henley who won the Ladies March Medal.

We have recently taken delivery of our New Flightscope (Flightscope is a Launch Monitor / Golf Ball Tracking device). We are very keen to show as many people our new technology. Congratulations to Russell (Buxton) who qualified for next week's Euro Pro Tour School. He finished the 36 holes with scores of 69 and 74 around Woldingham GC. Good luck to Russell at Tour Score. I will keep you update with Russell's performances throughout the season.

Russell holds Junior Clinics every Saturday. The clinics are on a roll-up basis and are only £5 per child. Under 8's from 2.00pm - 2.45pm, over 8's from 3.00pm - 4.00pm.
