Captains' Drive-In
On Saturday morning, the new captains for2015/16 started the Autumn Meeting by'Driving-In' to begin their year in office. Iwill forgive the captains for the quality oftheir drives and allow them the excuse of thepressure that came with a large group of memberswatching! Good luck to all the captains fortheir year, I hope it is a very enjoyable andsuccessful year for you all.

Congratulations to Tom Aye-Moung who dominatedthe Autumn Meeting. Not content with winning oneprize on the day, Tom won the nett and the grosscompetitions after returning a fantastic grossscore of 71 for a nett 67. Past captain TimCattaneo finished second in the nett competitionwith a score of 69. Paul Mayes completed the topthree with a nett score of 70, beating Tim Osmanon countback. However, Tim recovered from thedisappointment of the nett competition byclaiming second place in the gross competitionwith a very good gross score of 74. Tim Cattaneotook the final step on the podium with a gross78, one ahead of James Culley who was the onlyother golfer to break 80.
Midweek Stableford
A huge congratulations to Head Chef Radik who,competing in his first ever competition, claimedvictory in the Midweek Stableford last Tuesday.On a day where scoring proved to be very hard,Radik returned an excellent score of 36 pointsto claim victory by seven points. Antony Martinfinished second with 29 points and Chris Blakefinished third with 28 points. The competition'sstandard scratch score reflects the difficultplaying conditions on the day and increased bytwo shots to 71. Following his competition win,Radik's handicap was reduced to 15.7. ClearlyRadik's ability on the golf course is startingto catch-up with his ability in the Kitchen!
The potential re-development of Hassocks GolfClub took a minor step forward last Tuesdayevening. Hassocks Parish Council voted in favourby 11-1 to allocate the Golf Club within theirneighbourbood plan. However, any potentialchange will not happen overnight.
DenysCole, owner of Hassocks Golf Club, confirmedat the AGM last Friday evening that a fullmembership year will be offered over an18-hole course from the 2016-2017 season.
