Last Saturday we played a social pairscompetition to raise funds to replace the olddefunct compressor. As irony would have it, thenew compressor was in place and working, but theold hose decided to split at the end of lastweek not allowing me time to replace it beforeSaturday. The good news is we raised enoughmoney for the compressor and a couple of hosesso we will have a backup should this happenagain!
Firstly I would like to say a few thanks toDanny Burchell for organising and drumming upparticipants; to Chris Coles for his largedonation to the cause; to Colin Rafferty for hisnearest the pin prizes; and to all those whobraved the conditions and participated in theevent or donated funds via the money tin on thebar.
Itwas a tale of two halves from the weather side,we teed off in sunshine with blue skies andlittle wind. By the back nine the weatherchanged, clouds and wind arrived and we all gota little damp from some heavy showers. Despitethe conditions the teams had a good time andthere was some great scoring on the day. Theresults saw Danny Burchell/RichardCopeland finish first with 42 points, one ahead of Gary Clarke/Dominic Hill in second. Both teams have won fourball vouchers donated bylocal clubs.
