Oliver Plate
Last Saturday the Hassocks Scratch team played against Boars Head Golf Club in the second round of the Oliver Plate - the Sussex Inter-Club Knockout. Captained by Tom Aye-Moung, the team of eight players played 36 holes, four foursomes matches in the morning followed by eight singles matches in the afternoon. The team, made up of Tom Aye-Moung, Danny Burchell, Alex Mullins (pictured here), James Culley, Tim Osman, Greg Kemsley, Greg Burt and Lucas Durrant never looked backwards from the first tee shot. Leading 3.5-0.5 after the morning foursomes, they went on to claim victory by 10.5 to 1.5. Well played to the whole team, a great effort. The next round, the quarter-finals, is on the 11th June, good luck boys.
Osmor Trophy
The Osmor Trophy is the end of season competition for the Weekend Order of Merit, played on Bank Holiday Monday. Tom Aye-Moung continued his good weekend by recording a fantastic gross 68 (nett 63) to win the nett and gross prize - he can be seen below with his trophy. Simon Friend continued the good scoring on the day and finished with a gross 71 (nett 66). Completing the top three and continuing his impressive year, Joe Leonard returned with a nett 69. Well played to you all. Tom and Simon rounded off their day nicely by both claiming a third share of the 2s pot. They were joined by Ollie Cook who decided against making a 2 the conventional way, on a par-3. Ollie drove the par-4 8th hole and holed the putt. Very impressive, Ollie.
