Mixed Match
We have been offered a return mixed match by Mid Sussex GC. Last year we played them at home and won 4-1 so they will be looking for revenge. I have been told they have 10 pairs so I need 10 men and 10 women that would be keen to go and play on Sunday, 24 July. It will be an 11:00am start with a two-course carvery lunch and coffee to follow. Format will be 4BBB. If you're interested in playing please indicate on the sign-up sheets on the competition boards.
Are you the correct body shape for summer?
Don't worry, I'm not talking about your beach body and you don't need to go on a diet.
Setting up in the correct position at address makes the rest of the swing simpler. If you set up in the incorrect position, your golf swing will require compensatory movements to fix the wrongs:
The more moving parts, the more likely to go wrong
During recent lessons I have seen a number of people starting in the wrong position. At address you should be in the reserve K position as shown in the right-hand side of the two images below. The left shoulder, left hip and left foot should be up against the 'wall' or in a straight line.
Why is this so important?
Simply, this is the position you need to be in at impact to strike the golf ball properly. I often discuss during lessons and in the shop how the top golfers in the world all have different swings. However, whilst watching the US Open this week, you will see most have huge similarities - grip, posture and body shape at impact. My theory when coaching is to make golf as simple and repeatable as possible. Start in the position you need to be in at impact and remain there, rotating the club around your spine.
Why start in one position at address, move to a second at the top of your backswing and then try and find a third at impact?
Why make a difficult game even more complicated?

Nothing to lose but so much to gain...
Unless you've been under a rock somewhere, you will know that we are currently running a promotion on selected hardware in-store.
We really have got off to a flying start with several of you opting for a FREE fitting and FREE lesson with recent club purchases, rather than simply buying straight off the shelves. We can't stress enough how important it is that you don't do this, and there really is no excuse anymore with the services we offer in the shop.
Many people think that custom fitting will only benefit top-level players, when in-fact it will arguably have more of an impact for the ordinary club golfer
There really is no such thing as a 'standard club' anymore, as each person requires something slightly different - albeit extra length, a different lie or a stronger/weaker shaft.
The FREE fitting element of this promotion will ensure that your new clubs are matched/suited to your game and swing, enabling you get the most out of the equipment. Follow this up with a FREE after-sales lesson and you will be striping the ball better than ever.
We know this sounds good, almost too good to be true, but you don't have long to take advantage of this offer - it ends on the 3rd July. So make sure you give yourself the best chance to play better golf in 2016 by treating yourself to some new clubs.
If you don't, who will?
