Lesson success
Congratulations to Jon Robinson who won the Nett Club Championship at Pyecombe Golf Club last week.
Jon returned an excellent score of nett 65 on Saturday to be joint leader overnight. With the pressure of leading the field on his shoulders, Jon returned an equally impressive nett 68 in more testing conditions to win the trophy by three shots. This result came three days after he had also claimed victory in the Sussex Mid-Age Championship (35s and over), also played at Pyecombe.
Jon started having lessons 13 months ago, originally taking part in the Game Improvement Champion lesson package last summer and continuing his lessons after. Jon had always played with a slice and wanted to straighten out his ball flight and increase the amount of power he was able to generate. By shallowing out Jon's downswing and stopping him 'coming over the top', we have been able to considerably improve both Jon's power and accuracy. The difference is seen in the photos below, the first before we made our chance and the second now.
Jon works relentlessly at his game, proving hard work and dedication do pay off. Following his recent trophy haul, Jon has moved even closer to his ambition of being a single-figure handicap golfer, being cut from 12 to 10.

June Midweek Medal
Well played to Max 'Boom' Smith who won the June Midweek Medal last week. Having taken a year break from the game to experience the joys of women and alcohol, Max has returned to Hassocks this summer. Fresh from being custom fitted in the Swing Studio at Hassocks and with a new driver, fairway, hybrid and wedges in the bag, Max returned a superb score of 75 gross (nett 65), reducing his handicap to 8.9. Not wanting to be out-done by the youngsters at the golf club, Hassocks' senior section put up a strong showing too. Paul Bristow finished second by a single shot with a nett 66, pushing Geoff Barden into third. Well played to you all. Max continued his good day by also recording a two and scooping the pot, claiming £42 in the process.
