Do you have a distance in your bag that your current wedge set-up doesn't cover?
Does one club goes to far and the next not far enough?
This was definitely true for Mike Walsh. At the start of this week we had a Gapping Session on the driving range using FlightScope.
Mike was using an Titleist AP1 Pitching Wedge and a 52 degree (gap) and 56 degree (sand) Titleist Vokey wedge. He found the gap between the pitching wedge and 52 degree gap wedge was too large. This was confirmed after hitting several shots on the driving range with each wedge.
As you can see from the image above there is a clear gap between the 2 clubs, ideally the circles should slightly overlap each other. After measuring Mike's pitching wedge we found it was 45 degrees, meaning he had a 7 degree difference between it and his gap wedge. The normal difference between clubs i.e. between a 8 and 9 iron is 4 degrees.
To resolve this issue Mike has ordered a Titleist 716 AP1 Gap Wedge - with 50 degrees of loft. This will sit perfectly between the 45 degree pitching wedge and the 56 degree sand wedge.
It is very important to make sure the lofts of your wedges are balanced with equal gaps between them.
How do yours measure?
Do you even know?!

Remove that bogey distance from your bag. Your wedges are the scoring clubs in your golf bag, if you are serious about improving your scores this is an essential part of your equipment to get right.
If you can't play like the pros, at least look like one…
With summer now upon us (we hope), you'll soon be digging through your wardrobe trying to find a respectable polo shirt to wear. Inevitably you'll have a few that you bought 10 years ago which look tatty and old with the colour faded; then there's your favourite shirt from a few years back that you are trying so desperately hard to fit in to; and then you have the shirt with a few stains on but you wear under a jumper anyway as no-one will see.
Sound about right?
We have some lovely looking and great fitting shirts in-store at the moment from the likes of FootJoy, Galvin Green, Callaway and adidas - just take a look at the photo here. You may have been in to take a look earlier on in the year, but we've recently received a new drop of clothing from all of our apparel brands. Not only that, but we regularly change around what we have on display so it is worth coming in for a browse if you haven't had a look in the last few weeks. There's bound to be a shirt or two that's right up your street.
So come and see us in-store, take a browse at the numerous collections we have, try on some shirts and look the part on the course this summer. Remember what they say:
Look good, feel great, play well...
