November Medal
Last Sunday the Men's November Medal was held in very difficult conditions, despite the windy and rainy weather one player found it to his liking. Kevin Chester returned a fabulous round of nett 66 to win the competition by 6 shots. Clearly Kevin didn't notice the weather like everybody else! Howard Burt finished second with nett 72, beating Martin Copperwheat into third place on countback. Howard returned a back nine score of nett 31 versus Martin's 36 to claim second.
Well done to everyone who started and finished the competition, especially Kevin. To reflect the difficulty the players experienced on the day, the competition standard scratch increased to 72 and became reductions only. Following his excellent result, Kevin's handicap was reduced by 2 shots to 19.

Foremost Conference
This week I was away from the club on Monday and Tuesday attending the Foremost Golf Trade show in Milton Keynes. This was held at the MK Stadium, home of the MK Dons - a very impressive stadium and facility.
All the major brands were represented TaylorMade, Titleist, Callaway, PING, Cleveland, Srixon, Motocaddy etc.
It was very interesting to see and hear what they had to say regarding new product, custom fitting, service and much more.
The keynote speaker at the conference was Jamie Edwards - The Trained Brain. Jamie has worked in golf for over ten years and has coached some of the best players in sport.
He is frequently called upon by coaches and individuals to help them find that 'axis shifting' moment in their sport, business or life. His session was very motivational and thought provoking.
As founder of Trained Brain, Jamie's approach to coaching, be it in sport or business, challenges traditional learning techniques and provides a unique experience that develops a "think differently' perspective. If you ever get the opportunity to hear Jamie speak, I would highly recommended it.
