How are your grooves performing?
Does your wedge look like this?
Do you know how much performance you are sacrificing?
The Titleist Vokey Research & Development team recently tested 3 levels of groove wear using a wedge robot at their Manchester Lane test facility. These are the results of the test:
- A Vokey Wedge after 125 rounds of play achieved: 6500 RPM / 35 degrees launch = 24 feet of stopping power
- A Vokey Wedge after 75 rounds of play achieved: 7500 RPM / 34 degrees launch = 18 feet of stopping power
- A Vokey Wedge with Fresh Grooves achieved: 8500 RPM / 33 degrees launch = 10 feet of stopping power
The results make very interesting reading - how worn are you grooves? Do you ever suffer from your golf ball running through the back of the green or not stopping quickly enough? Could this be the reason why?
A fresh Vokey will stop twice as quick as a wedge that has played 125 rounds!
Come and be assessed in our swing studio to find out how much performance we can add to your game. We have the capability to measure spin rates and launch angles. Come and see what a new wedge could add to your game.

JOLF by Brighton Junior Golf
Last week Brighton Junior Golf held a taster session at Pyecombe Golf Club to introduce JOLF to any 'little golfers' or parents who were interested. I'm pleased to say the weather and the turn out were both good. Although numerous hot chocolates were required by 7pm as the cold set in!
Neil Plimmer and Nevil Perryman-Best from Brighton Junior Golf (BJG) set up several games and challenges for everyone to try, young and old.
BJG will be holding Summer Term Coaching every Sunday from 2pm. The sessions will be split into ages starting from 4 years old to 14. The sessions will start from Sunday 30th April and will run for 10 weeks.

It's time to upgrade
Lithium batteries are quicker charging, last longer and work out cheaper in the long run than the standard Lead Acid alternatives, so it's time to say goodbye if you're still using one.
Currently, we'll give you £25 OFF when you trade in your old battery against a new Lithium one. Motocaddy has now made Lithium even more affordable, so this really is a fantastic opportunity to save yourself some money.

Hassocks Ryder Cup
Last Sunday we played the re-scheduled Hassocks Ryder Cup. This is an annual match played between teams representing the Club Captain and myself the professional.
It is a unique game with 6 different formats played in 18 holes - 4 ball better ball, greensomes, foursomes, texas scramble, daytona pairs and finally gruesomes.
I played against The Captain Mark Page and current Club Champion Tom Aye-Moung, being partnered by Danny Burchell in the match. Unfortunately Mark was in red hot form and was very hard to contain, winning the match 4 & 2. His victory was even harder for me to swallow as he put it down to the clubs I have recently custom fitted him for, I helped with my own demise!
This sadly set the tone for the day and The Captain's Team finished 6 to 2 winners. I'm beginning to suspect this match is an annual fix, this result has continued the sequence of The Captain's Team winning every year!
Thank you to the 32 golfers who took part in the event, a great day was had by all.
