Parafix Winter League
Congratulations to the Parafix Winter League Team who recorded their second consecutive win on Sunday morning. New Team Captain Steve Baugh has installed a new winning mentality and the team are now looking up the table rather than down. Hassocks tasted victory over Chichester Golf Club at home, with the match finishing 4-1.
The results were: Lee Murray and Scott Kemsley won 2&1; Matt Roberts and Tim Cattaneo won 3&2; Danny Burchell and Club Captain Paul Mayes won 7&5; Tom Aye-Moung and Rikki Jackson won 1 up and Ian Martin and Mark Simmons lost 1 down.
December Medal
Congratulations to Greg Burt on winning the December Medal last Saturday. In very cold and icy conditions Greg recorded an excellent score of gross 72 (nett 70) to win the competition on countback from Tom Aye-Moung. Danny Burchell claimed third place on count back from Bob Shrieves-Yeates with a gross 76 (nett 73).
The competition standard scratch score reflected the very difficult playing conditions and increased by three shots to 71 and became a handicap reduction only qualifier, meaning no one had their handicap increased on Saturday! This is the first time I can ever remember where the competition standard scratch has increased by 3 shots.
The 2's pot was shared by 5 players: Danny Burchell, Tim Cattaneo, Nick Griffin, Greg Kemsley and Graham Snelgrove. Graham claimed a double scoop of the pot by recording 2's at the 6th and 13th, well played Graham. Each player received £11 per 2.
Charity Cheque Presentation
Hassocks golfers have raised a total of £5,307 over the past 12 months for the Paediatric Diabetes Unit of the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital. Tim Cattaneo, Club Captain, said the monies were raised by various activities over the year by all sections of the club, including a very successful Captains' Charity Day back in the summer. The Junior Section donated their winnings from the Dockerill's League during a very successful season.
Dr Shankar Kanumakala said:
"Donations from well-wishers and philanthropists make a huge difference to the service. This is the second time in 7 years that Hassocks Golf Club has supported our Unit & the monies raised have exceeded our expectations. This will make a huge contribution to the service we are able to provide to children with diabetes and their families and we are so grateful to the members of Hassocks Golf Club for their generosity"

After seven and a half years working at Hassocks Golf Club, Alex Mullins (Assistant Professional) will be leaving. Alex's last day will be Sunday, 4th January 2015. Alex will be greatly missed at the club and I'm sure all the members and visitors to Hassocks will join me in wishing him well in his new adventures.
From Monday, 5th January I will be changing my role within the Golf Club. I will be standing down as General Manager and become Golf Club Director (and Head Professional). My role will be to oversee the running and steering of the Golf Club but not involved within the day to day tasks of the office. The Golf Club has appointed a new General Manager, Greg Kemsley. Many of you will already now Greg; he joined Hassocks last April as a member. Greg joins the team with a vast managerial background and has previously worked at Mid Sussex Golf Club.
I hope you give Greg (pictured above right) all the help and support you have offered me over the last 4 years. My change of role will provide me with more time to concentrate on coaching, custom fitting, playing and the professional shop.
