Christmas Social & Lunch
Last Monday saw the Senior Christmas social take place. The seniors invited the ladies section to join them in this annual event which was fiercely contested by 8 teams of four playing a new format for many the "Florida Scramble". The teams consisted of seniors plus lady guests representing the ladies section.
Captain and Santa for the day, Keith Cowley led the field off the first with an impressive drive (OOB) to start the festive event and who by the end of the 18 holes was well and truly sleighed. The format as always going to allow some impressive scoring and the field did not fail to impress the spectators as the top three were only separated by the shortest of margins.
The results were as follows:
First place - John Tucker, Val Kennedy, Ian Roberts & Norman Whiting
Runners-Up - Dave Green, Madi Habens, Matthew Hale & Martin Tigg
Third Place - Keith Cowley (Santa), Anne Austin, Peter Ridden & Ian Habens
Nearest the pin and longest drive - Norman Whiting
Ladies' longest drive - Madi Habens
Best Christmas Tie - Martin Tigg for his creation from his wife's Helens New Year Collection (orders being taken now)
The Guest of honour for this event was 2006/2007 Senior Captain Ron Langridge who blessed all with his presence and at 91 years of age took the honour of making the draw for the Seniors' Penny Draw.
