Parafix Winter League
Congratulations to the Parafix Team who recorded a resounding victory last Sunday. The team, led by stand in Captain Tim Cattaneo, played Singing Hills and achieved the fantastic result of 4.5-0.5. The individual results were: Greg and Scott Kemsley won 5&4, Tim Cattaneo and Mark Page halved, Danny Burchell and Matt Roberts won 4&2, Paul Gumbrell and Lee Murray won 3&2 and Peter Mullett and Rob Temple-Smithson won 2&1.
The result moved Hassocks above Chichester Golf Club in the league table into first place. With one match remaining, to be played at home, Hassocks can still bring the trophy home. Whilst we require other results to go in our favour the performance of the team has been remarkable. Congratulations to Steve Baugh, Team Captain, and all the players selected for the huge improvement in this year's performances.
March Stableford and Lombard Qualifier
Congratulations to Nick Griffin (pictured below)on winning the March Stableford and Lombard Qualifier, the second time in three years Nick has won the event.
Nick returned a fantastic score of 40 points to win the competition by three shots. Graham Snelgrove finished second on countback, beating Chris Crook into third place. Nick qualified to represent Hassocks at Walton Heath in July at the regional finals of the event, Nick and I will partner each other playing fourball betterball
Nick also recorded the only two during the competition to complete his clean sweep of the event, taking home the pot worth £76. Following his performance in the competition, Nick's handicap was reduced by one shot to 10 (9.9). The competition standard scratch score increased by one shot to 69.

When discussing the golf swing and the correct technique many people question the amount of unusual swings on the PGA Tour; Bubba Watson and Jim Furyk for example! However, whilst many of these golf swings look very different they all have certain aspects that are the same. Having correct posture before and during the golf swing is one of these.
Please see below a lesson I gave last week. Rob Barrow has been playing golf for under a year and this was his first lesson. The first thing I changed was his posture; this had an immediate positive effect on the quality of strike he was able to achieve.
Rob's before (left) with a bent back, over-flexed knees and no gap between his hands and legs. The after (middle) with a straight back, the correct leg flex and separation between his legs and arms.
How does your posture look? Could your ball striking be improved?
