Isall the hype right? …… YES. 

Today I had the opportunity to see ifall the social media, press and hype was rightsurrounding the launch of TaylorMade'snew M1 driver. I custom fitted DavidBrandrith, who was using a TaylorMade driverwhich was only 2-years-old. After optimising thefitting of the M1 driver and trying severalshaft options to maximise the launch and spinconditions, we were able to increaseDavid's drive by an average of 19 yards!

Hi everyone and welcome to my first of manycontributions to Mike's newsletter,

This year we have a large section of theCommittee that are new, and for those of youthat do not know who the new Committee membersare, photos are going up in the clubhouse soon. 

Onto the recent competitions, the 20thAnniversary Par-3 Contest was greatfun and even I hadn't played from some of thosepositions into the greens! Well done to Greg fororganising it. On the fun side of thecompetition it was great to see five youngstersplaying in it, I was able to play alongside myson as did four other dads. On the serious sideof the competition, some great scoring waswitness and Lee Cox almost had a very expensiveafternoon missing a hole-in-one on the 7th byless than an inch. The competition was won by myvice-captain (the man in-form) Mark Page and his"Merry Men" with honouree man Ann Austin, ChrisRiggs and Lee Preston. They donated theirwinnings to my charity which was very generousof them and I will be auctioning this off soon. 

This winter we are looking to run an EclecticLeague for both gross and nettscores. It will be free to enter, simply play ineither the weekend Stableford or Medal betweenOct - March and you will be entered. There willbe a small prize for 1st and 2nd in each nettand gross sections and will be run in twoquarters. October to December and then Januaryto March.


 

Struggler's Cup 

Congratulations to vice-captain MarkPage who continued his recent fine form and wonthe Struggler's Cup for the second consecutiveyear. Mark returned a fantastic score of 43points to win the competition by seven points.Mark had his handicap reduced by 2.3 shots onthe day to 16.6. Unfortunately this means hishandicap is now too low to complete the treblenext year! Well played, Mark. He can be seen herreceiving his prize from the captain.


October Midweek Medal 

Congratulations to Wade Ayling who won theOctober Midweek Medal last Tuesday. Wadereturned a very good score of nett 67 to win avery competitive competition. Wade pushed fourplayers into second place by one shot. JohnFranks, Greg Kemsley, Rob Temple-Smithson andPeter Mullett could only be separated oncountback to decide the podium places. Followhis competition win Wade has become asingle-figure golfer, having his handicapreduced to 9.2. Congratulations, Wade.

 

Parafix Winter League 

Team Captain Steve Baugh and his band of merrymen started their assault on the Parafix WinterLeague last weekend. With last year's excellentperformance still fresh in their mind, theteam's desire to go one better and win thetrophy this year was stronger than ever. Howeverthe fixture list had been very unkind to theteam, with an away draw to defending championsMid Sussex the first fixture. 

However, I'm delighted to inform you the teamproduced an excellent performance to put theirstamp on this year's competition and won 1.5 to3.5. The team members were Tim Cattaneo &Mark Page, won 5&4. Tom Aye Moung & LeeMurray, halved. Steve Baugh & Peter Mullet,won 2&1. Danny Burchell & Matt Roberts,won 6&5. Rob Temple Smithson & WadeAyling, lost 4&3 

The availability list for the home fixtureagainst Lindfield on the 8th November is now onthe board.
