We have had such a fantastic and positive response to the new newsletter and website which we launched last week. We are pleased that so many of you have either spoken to me and the team in the shop or sent me an email. That really is the aim of this weekly communication, to inform and to encourage more golfers to talk to us about their game and how they would like to improve. Have you set your aims for the year? If so let us help you achieve them and make 2014 a fantastic golfing year. Click here and tell us what you'd like to achieve be it more consistency, lower your handicap or just to beat your golfing partner.
For those of you that might have missed our email last week, We'd like to tell you a little more about my new email and website. We have spent a lot of time putting together this website. You will find videos on the latest golf equipment, instructional tips and videos, contact forms to keep in touch and information on the promotions that we have running in my shop. But we also want to feature you! So if you have any news be it a hole in one, birth of a son or granddaughter, a testimonial on how great your new driver or electric trolley is we want to know and we will be delighted to feature you in our site.
From time to time you will see graphics and content in our email and website relating to Click and Collect. This is a website where you can buy golf equipment. It helps us to expand our product range that we are able to offer you. If we don't stock it here in our shop and it's available on the Click and Collect website, then you can pay for the product and have it delivered to our shop free of charge. If there are any problems with the item purchased you can return it to me and we can send it back, again without charge.
The April Stableford took place last Saturday and was the first qualifying competition for the 2014 - 2015 Order of Merit. Congratulations to Bob Shrieves-Yeates for his fantastic 44 points which earnt him top spot. He beat Paul Field who took second place with a highly credible 41 points (Gross 69) whilst Martin Higgins completed the top three with 39 points.
Tom Aye-Moung continued his mission to hold every title in the Golf Club. Already Club Champion and Summer Pairs Knock-Out winner, Tom added the Summer Singles Knock-Out to his collection. He played Peter Mullett in the final last Tuesday and won 2 & 1. Well played Tom.
During the final Peter Mullett holed his second shot on the par 4 9th hole to record an eagle. Normally a very rare occurrence. However, the following day Ian Smith recorded another eagle on the same hole, again holing his second Shot. Ian was playing a seniors Knock-Out match against Tim O'Malley and scored 51 points! Well done to Tim for only losing 5 & 4.
In the men's Mail on Sunday Classic 2014, Hassocks received a bye in the first round before beating Tilgate Forest Golf Club 5-0 at home in the second round. Congratulations to the team - Tom Aye-Moung, Mark Simmons, Tim Cattaneo, Bob Shrieves-Yeates, Graham Snelgrove and to (Non-Playing Captain) Steve Wyatt. Hassocks have been drawn away to Dorking in the 3rd round on Sunday 13th April. Good luck to the team.
Having won the Club foursomes competition last year, Caroline Littlejohn and Sheila Doughty played at Mid Sussex on 12th March in the first round of the Daily Mail Foursomes 2014. They were 5 & 3 winners and now face Singing Hills Golf Club at home in the second round.
In the ladies Mail on Sunday Classic 2014, Hassocks were given a tough draw away at Pyecombe in the 1st round. Having been delayed by the weather, the deadline loomed and eventually, in terrible weather, the team of Nikki Henley, Ann Austin, Kathy Sage, Katie Taylor and Marian Smith, played their matches. Unfortunately, Pyecombe proved too strong on their own course, with Hassocks eventually losing 4-1.
Hassocks Ladies are raising money in a variety of ways for this year's charity - The Paediatric Diabetes Service at The Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital. Ladies Day 'fun days' entry fees are split 50/50 between club funds and the charity. In addition Joan Johnson regularly makes marmalade to sell to the ladies, all money raised going to the charity, with Joy Bellamy raising £25 from the sale of some lovely belts she recently returned from Spain with. The current ladies section money raised amounts to £518.02, an amazing sum considering the size of the section.
